On Tuesday night October 15th 2013, as the IDEA Society of the University of Georgia, we held the 9th Annual Dialogue and Friendship Dinner at Georgia Center for Continuing Education. The
theme was “The Role of Altruism and Service to Humanity in Promoting World Peace” The program began with a welcome speech by the president of the IDEA Society, followed by the presentation of Mr. Kemal Korucu, director of Interfaith Affairs at the Istanbul Center. Mr. Korucu discussed the importance of altruism in the society and linked the purpose of the Annual Dinner specifically to the idea of serving to humanity without any expectations. Dr. Nancy McDuff followed with a presentation about her memorable tour of Turkey. After the dinner was served, live Ebru art presentation was performed.
